McDonald’s in Israel just became a lot more inclusive

Navigating a crowded fast food establishment can sometimes be a struggle for those with perfect vision, but for visually impaired people it can be downright daunting to attempt on their own. Enter the RightHear voice navigation app McDonald’s plans to integrate with all its Israeli locations: it connects to sensors throughout the restaurant and plays audio instructions to users to help them orient themselves and find the ordering/pickup line, condiments, seating, and restroom areas. Soon all of McDonald’s 180 restaurants will be more easily navigable to those with visual impairments and even cognitive disabilities like dementia.

“The more places take part, the value to the user rises, and this is also one of the reasons McDonald’s excited us, because they are located everywhere in Israel,” said RightHear founder Idan Meir.
