Digital accessibility pioneer Jim Thatcher dies at 83 on December 7, 2019


Jim Thatcher was one of the trailblazers in the world of digital accessibility. During his 37-year career at IBM he helped launch the first screen readers the world had ever seen, and was heavily involved with the accessibility community. The winner of numerous awards (including the Distinguished Service Award from the National Federation of the Blind) and a contributor to some of the most highly regarded books on digital accessibility, Jim leaves behind a community mourning his loss but grateful for his tireless efforts to make the world a better, more inclusive place
